Princess is a one man electronic outfit, blending some pretty intense, crushing guitar riffage with nice thumping beats. "The End is the New Now" is a slow starter, building through sound, drums, samples, until the guitar cuts through and the whole song lifts, firing off on all cylanders. It's hard to imagine that it's one person sometimes, listening to it, it's so big, there's a lot happening in there. But it executed perfectly, sharp and full on. I've heard that a live band has been setup so check them out.
Sunnyvale Noise Sub-Element are another electronic outfit, a three piece this time. A perfect partner to the big guitar sound of Princess, "I Love You Everytime You Smile" is more techno sounding, with sweeping loops and heartbeat-like drum patterns, broken by the clean guitar just slicing right through the mix to lift the general ambience of the song. It's kind of schizo sounding, at moments dark, then getting all cheerful and merry when that guitar appears, with subtle programmed sounds accenting the rhythm.
Both bands are highly recommended but us at Mudlark. Listen. Buy the single.
